第一天為“麥日”，類似于農(nóng)歷除夕，傣語叫“宛多尚罕”，意思是送舊。此時人們要收拾房屋，打掃衛(wèi)生，準備年飯和節(jié)間的劃龍舟、放高升、文藝表演等各種活動。

第二天稱為“惱日”，“惱”意為“空”，按習慣這一日既不屬前一年，亦不屬后一年，故為“空日”，這天通常要舉行潑水活動，紀念為民除害的天女，以圣潔之水消災免難，互祝平安幸福。

第三天叫“麥帕雅晚瑪”，據(jù)稱此麥帕雅晚瑪?shù)挠㈧`帶著新歷返回人間之日，人們習慣將這一天視為日子之王來臨，是傣歷的元旦。
